• If painting realistic tropical birds are subjects you’ve always wanted to master, then working with a brilliant color palette and pure pigments is one of the keys to your success. There are also specific painting techniques you learn that will make the process much easier than you might think.
• The secret is in knowing your subject and the environment where they live. Getting good results depends on several things, from understanding the bird’s anatomy to creating a composition or setting that will support the main subject. Having been raised in the tropics myself, I've spent many years painting and studying these fine creatures and observing their natural habitat.
• I understand what it takes to portray them at their best, especially if a student has never painted or been around these kinds of birds before. Painting from photographic reference materials has been the key for me and I’d like to pass on this knowledge, along with all the tips and tricks I have collected and learned.
• As shown in the graphic above, the four subjects are: The Toucan, A Parott in Bamboo,  A Red Macaw and  A Flamingo. As students learn about painting feathers, eyes and details, they also learn how to mix their brilliant colors using a limited palette of colors. Techniques for managing light, painting foliage and the tropical environment are also demonstrated in full detail. I also share many of my tricks for bringing your tropical bird paintings to life.
• Prior painting experience will help the student get the most from this comprehensive and in-depth course. However, with that said, if the student is keen and has limited painting experience, they can work at a slower pace, still learning volumes about painting birds.
