Wildlife Painting - The Technical Basics for Painting Animal Fur - If painting animals is on your horizon, then learning to paint their fur accurately is a must regarding painting techniques. Artist Neadeen Masters has created this in-depth and comprehensive study for the beginning and/or intermediate painter who wishes to paint realistic wildlife fur. Students learn brush techniques to render fur and hair texture, pattern, direction and length. Color is discussed relative to light, contour, and surroundings. Glazing, painting light and shadow, integral to the process for painting different types of animal fur is also demonstrated. Neadeen offers numerous painting exercises for the student to explore and apply. Students will paint fur samples and three final paintings that incorporate the elements demonstrated.
The painting techniques are taught with acrylic paint. However the techniques learned and demonstrated, can also be used for oil painting. Some adjustments will be necessary.
