Discover these techniques as you unlock the secrets of the artist’s palette and explore the color palettes of some of the Old Masters like Rembrandt, Titian, Van Eyke, Goya, and Vermeer. Learn how the Old Masters viewed and used color, incorporate their color philosophies into your own modern day color choices. Learn how to look at modern day pigments and make creative decisions when selecting the available pigments today. This class will also explore an authentic ancient painting using modern day pigments and mediums as students replicate the ancient Lion of the famous Babylonian Ishtar Gate. This is a fun, and interesting hands-on dimensional painting using heavy textural mediums and colourful glazing techniques. No prior skill required.

Learn to immulate the unglazed ceramic tiles that took on the color of the clay out of which they were made when they are formed. When the tile is not the color that the artisan wants, the tiles can be colored with pigment before firing. This lesson shows a contemporary version of the process using modern paint and materials. It's fun, interactive and you can transfer these skills to other painting projects.
