The Study of Metals, Part 1 - This introduction to painting different metal surfaces will become an important skill for all still life painters.
The instructor will teach the student how to approach and describe the surface textures of metals through the changes in value, hue and blending techniques. Metals are often seen and used in still life studies, and the course materials will address one element from each metal group. Several metals will be explained and discussed while being painted on small study canvasses. Students will work on painting exercises that will culminate in six small paintings that include all metal surfaces. Attention will be spent on reflections, shines, patina and palette for each of the metal groups.
Suggested Prerequisites: These additional skills will help the novice artist be smore uccessful with this method of painting - The Art of Refined Blending, Color Basics ll - Value & Form in Objects
Student Support - Streaming Video, text lesson, question and answer forums, step by step photographs and students will recieve feedback from the instructor.

This class made me want to paint stilllife. I learned so much witht the video lessons and assignments. The results were outstanding. I struggled at times, but Susan was right there to help me.

I Loved painting metals and actually my husband saw one of the assignments and as a photography buff thought it was a photo when I finished...he couldnt figure out how I could make it so hyper-real!
