How to Paint A Parrot? - Red Macaw

Excellent Value - Not Available Anywhere Else On the Internet

From the teacher: "Over the many years of my teaching career I have been asked neumerous times about painting a colorful red parrot. The Macaw bird is the largest of the parrots. It's beautiful red feathers are brilliant and stand out against the backdrop of the deep green rainforest. This particular bird is actually a red and green macaw, known as the Green Winged Macaw. In the photograph above you can just see the start of some of the green feathers along the back of the bird."

"If learning to paint a tropical bird is on your agenda, and you want to learn about underpainting, I will show you how. I love to paint all types of tropical birds, mostly because of their beautiful and brilliant colors! In this online painting class I share a step by step approach using an indirect style of painting method, that is, the bird is painted using layers of colors. The bird is developed with several independent layers that teach color harmony and the translucency and depth of the red color. Discover a great painting method to preserve the brilliance of the red hues by using a yellow/gold underpainting. This approach will show you how the beautiful golden under-painting will enhance the subsequent layers of red color."

Watch from the best seat in the house!

This short video clip will give you an idea of the painting process for this class. Neadeen teaches at a very slow pace and you can follow along every step of the way. The beauty of an online class like this is your ability to rewind the videos and watch them over and over as many times as you like. You will miss nothing of the explanations and you watch from the best seat in the house with out ever having to leave home.

There are many classroom forums where you'll upload photographs of your work, and questions and answers are shared between students and me the instructor. Feedback is very important. This helps you know that you are on the right track. If there are any issues or challenges, these Q & A’s forums help clarify anything that might not be completely clear to you.

Neadeen demonstrates how to hold the brush, how to use specific acrylic painting techniques, and how to build each thin layer of the underpainting slowly. This class will teach you many valuable and transferrable skills that you will use over and over again to paint many other subjects in the future.

As you can see, students watch close up video demonstrations of each step. You can work at your own pace and take your time with the painting. If you are anxious to get started, you can begin painting right away.

From beginning to end you will learn about brush mixing to adjust color, how to apply transparent color glazes to create the luminious red color and how to use value to create the basic form of the bird. Watch and learn as the bird slowly evolves into a beautiful three dimensional red macaw.

This is the second course I have done, I think the quality of the lessons is outstanding. Neadeen explains things very well, and makes this technique easy to learn. I have gone on and painted a blue macaw using the same process, and it has turned out very well. Highly recommend these classes.

  2. Outstanding instructions

I was a little scared to buy this class, because birds are hard to paint, but I was told that Neadeen is a very good instructor. I just finished watching all of the parrot videos, I am SO very impressed. Neadeen is indeed an outstanding teacher. Very interesting under painting technique! Loved her explanations and demonstrations! The lesson is broken into small pieces, and I can see how to avoid most common mistakes. This will help me achieve better results. I am definitely going to buy all of Neadeen's classes now. This class is outstanding beyond belief. You'll never regret spending your money on this.
